And here it is...
This is my Great Uncle and his Canine Compatriot. It's a little blurry, but you can still make out the smile on that Dogs face, head cocked slightly to one side - isn't it wonderful? He even looks like he could be related to this dog. And go the kit on Great Uncle George; double breasted waist coat, high buttoned collar (and I'm sure there is a proper word for it, it's not a cravat I don't think), button-hole boutonniere and watch chain, dapper mustache. I love it. As an added bonus, because you are well behaved, Dear Reader, a Christmas card or two from a time 'long ago' (I wish I had a date):
To by Great Grandfather Ernest from Lily Smith (hmm, don't know who she was) and his Brother George (I think there is a Liberace joke there somewhere isnt there).
Looks rather like a wedding card from the outside, christmassy good message inside. This is to Great Grandfather from his sister Annie. It seems Annie was the sibling that liked to write to her brothers and sisters, bless her - nearly all the correspondece found in this magical box is from her, including a rather macabre postcard I will show you later! I'm sure I would have adored her were I lucky enough to meet her - in her photos she always has a rather mischevious smirk. You may remember my Great Grandfather was one of FIFTEEN children, so she would have had writers cramp keeping in touch with them all. But today, I will leave you with one of a few rather odd postcards that were found in the magical box. This earned a considerable laugh out load from myself. What do you think she has hidden down her top? It looks alive and kicking. She's obviously taking it to her bedroom, in anycase!
